TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak August 19, 2019 Flint to Chicago Day 34 CLICK ON ALL MAPS AND PHOTOS TO ENLARGE Not been looking forward to this runyak leg for over a year. That being carrying a kayak for nearly 7 miles over my shoulders. To make matters worse M72 was under construction nearly the entire way. Orange barrels were a constant nuisance. Because of construction I decided to do start before work crews got busy. To do that it was best if I did it two different mornings. Hope and I drove to Grayling two days earlier and I did the 6.7 mile run from the Manistee to the AuSable. Two days later arrived at the Manistee crossing at dawn and biked to the Ausable crossing and began portaging at 7:30 am.   The first half mile wasn't bad, there was a paved path along side of M72 before the construction zone.  Video of portaging on M72 and  v ideo of last 100 yards of the 6.7 mile portage End of portage and where I will begin paddling...

TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak August 1, 2019 Flint to Chica go  DAY 33 CLICK ON MAP AND ALL PHOTOS T O ENLARGE Prelaunch at the end of Keystone Rd I picked up Kate at Meijer in Birch Run and we drove to Burton Landing. She dropped me off there for my 5.4 mile run to Stephan Bridge Landing. After the run we drove to my paddle finish of last week, Keystone Landing. Keystone is 1.4 miles downriver from Burton where I ran from earlier. The paddle plan of the day, since current is strong at Keystone last week, was to try to get halfway to Grayling which was 8 miles upsteam, leaving one more trip to get to the M72 crossing where the portage would begin the following trip. In Grayling M72 crosses the river twice, once downtown and again upriver northwest of downtown . It was the second crossing where my days on the AuSable would end.
