I asked what was going on. He said their replacing the bridge for a new passenger line to Traverse City. To the north 3 miles there is Walton Junction where the GLC splits, one goes to TC the other to Petoskey. Walton Junction is mentioned in an Ernest Hemingway story, The Battler.
