Again no paddling today just a run and a drag portage. I drove to where I finished dragging last week and left Green Snake. I then drove to McMasters Bridge where I began running back to the kayak. The first 2.5 miles of the run were paved after that it was trails and gravel roads the final 6 miles.

TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak Maiden Launch July 16, 2017 TenaCity 2 WindyCity  DAY 1 Edited October 27, 2020. Above photo is map of original plan, to paddle around The Straits. That plan was changed June of the following year. To make the expedition more practical it was decoded to go across the state using the AuSable and Manistee rivers CLICK ON ALL PHOTOS TO ENLARGE!   25 Paddlers for the initial T2W launch. A successful day it appears.  8 runyakers and 1 bikeyaker was arrived at 8:00 am, left their kayaks, went to Flushing for the run (bike) back. We all were thinking we might get wet, but other than a misty sprinkle the 9.3 mile paddle was dry. DAY 70 TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak

Drove 4 hours to find waves were coming in that were too big to launch. In the summer we might have made it but the only way to launch without cockpits filling would b to wade out into the water androllinto the kayak. With water this cold we'd never warm up and we'd likely experience hypothermia. Seeing the waves at dawn I did the 12 mile run hoping things would calm down closer to noon.  Midway through the run I decided to get off US 12 highway and use a Calumet Trail, which parallels the  South Shore Railroad tracks and NiSource power lines . It was a mistake, the trail was under water at intervals and the further I ran the dry intervals were getting more seldom. TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak May 20, 2020 Flint to Chicago DAY  41 ALL PHOTOS AND MAPS WILL ENLARGED WHEN CLICKED With the Coronavirus quarantine in effect since mid-March it seemed I was getting a late start this year. But I checked, the last few year's starting day and it was within a day. Anyway it was great to on the water again, first time in half a year. I was ready to paddle alone today because of the social distancing. I asked the wife if she thought I should tell Kate, my regular paddle partner, of my plan. I figure Hope would say no being more pro-active in social distancing myself. Her worries of me paddling alone overrode the social factor, she said yes.  I let Kate know my plans and she responded she'd meet me at the launch at 10:00 am after finishing my 12.1 mile run.  There had been much river flooding in Mid-Michigan so on the 2:30 drive up Kate told me to let her know if the river was flooded, that she would save her the trip.  When I passed over the...
