A real runyaking disaster. At least when running. Running before the paddle I got lost because of my phone. It will not charge and accept a portable battery. I started the run with 43% charge. knowing gps would not last 2 hours I ran by occasionally looking at the Maps. At 9 miles the phone was dead. I thought I had only 2 miles to go. Kate drove up and I aked how far, she had just driven from the launch poin, Tunnel Park, She said at least 4 miles. I didn't believe her, I looked at map app. I was about 4 miles away. By looking at the map I figured I knew the rest of the way. I didn't. I screwed up again and made a wrong turn adding another mile. I ended up running 15 miles instead of 11. Grrrrr. I was drained to say the least.
Photo of beach when exiting the Tunnel.I had plenty of company today. Kate still healing her broken ankle managed to slap a walking cast on and come. Also Kate's son Alex and his girlfriend MayC were with us. They had flown in from San Francisco. Plus Hope having seen the flat waters of Lake Michigan from the 4 previos paddles and seeing the paddle was only 3 miles decided she would come. A beachcomer took a group photo of us.
Hope's kind of water.Big Red as the Hollanders call their lighthouse.
Paddles up!
This makes 4 DAYs of the 59 that Hope has paddled with me.
I really wish she'd come more often.
Hope, not a beer drinker, took the celebratory toast photo. Our beer was a Dragon's Milk Reserve Stroopwafel.
Landing at what is called Tiarra Yacht Put-in on the map. Just a gravel landing. Hard a place where you will find a Yacht launching
