TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak May 11, 2021 Flint to Chicago DAY 71 MOST PHOTOS WILL IMAGES WILL ENLARGE WHEN CLICKED I began this day with a 5 mile run along the beach from Millers Beach to the launch at Portage Lakefront, terminus of DAY 70. All the while, seeing that the water I'd be soon kayaking from was near perfect.                                       You can't ask for better paddle conditions on the Great Lakes              One of the many beaches at the southern end of Lake Michigan between steel mills Beaching at Miller Beach ending the morning leg of runyaking. With hourly parking and not knowing how long my van would be left, the van was parked a quarter mile away. We had food and beer onboard so never did go to the van, just ate at a picnic table. TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak July 12, 2018 August 8, 2018 TenaCity 2 WindyCity DAY 15 TenaCity 2 WindyCity DAY 16 CLICK ON ALL PHOTOS TO ENLARGE DAY 15 JOURNAL AND PHOTOS Tawas Point photos from previous week. After finishing day on Day 14 Hope and I went to Tawas Point to checkout possible landings. There is a stat park and campground there. I remember our family spending a night there in the early 80s but I never walked to the end of the point. I was pleasantly surprised by the long sand spit. The place reminded me of the intercoastal area south of Ocean City MD. There is a lighthouse on Tawas Point which from most places can't be seen well. The boat launch at Gateway Park located at the south end of Tawas City Because the water was so calm I decided to paddle first and run later. DAY 35 TenaCity to WindyCity, September 4, 2019

TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak Sept. 4, 2019 Flint to Chicago DAY 35 When Kate and I arrived at the M72 Manistee River crossing it was still dark. I left her out in the cold with a lawn chair and blanket and drove to what would be our day's debarking point, CCC Bridge Campground. It was a 15 mile drive by car but the run back to Kate and kayaks would only be 10.7 miles. I ran on Riverview Road, shorter in distance but hardly used by vehicles being gravel and mostly sand. For nearly 10 miles I saw motor vehicle tracks but not any vehicles. Talk about being in the Boondocks. Bales of straw were strewn over the road in one place to make it passable.  I only had to dance around muddy sections like this a couple times. For miles while running I heard chainsaws at work. I came upon this station where piles of lumber would soon be hauled to a mill. Riverview Road was not a good name for the road. I ran on it for 9.5 miles and never saw the river once.  ...
