As the run began the bridge over the St Joseph River, which divides the tow cities of Beton Harbor and St Joseph was up
                                       
                                           
                      Of course I had to stop mid run to tak a picture of this tree
                                        Saw this but going the opposite direction - downhill
                                              Launch point, Hagar Park Beach through trees

All the while, seeing that the water I'd be soon kayaking from was near perfect.                                       You can't ask for better paddle conditions on the Great Lakes              One of the many beaches at the southern end of Lake Michigan between steel mills Beaching at Miller Beach ending the morning leg of runyaking. With hourly parking and not knowing how long my van would be left, the van was parked a quarter mile away. We had food and beer onboard so never did go to the van, just ate at a picnic table. TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak July 12, 2018 August 8, 2018 TenaCity 2 WindyCity DAY 15 TenaCity 2 WindyCity DAY 16 CLICK ON ALL PHOTOS TO ENLARGE DAY 15 JOURNAL AND PHOTOS Tawas Point photos from previous week. After finishing day on Day 14 Hope and I went to Tawas Point to checkout possible landings. There is a stat park and campground there. I remember our family spending a night there in the early 80s but I never walked to the end of the point. I was pleasantly surprised by the long sand spit. The place reminded me of the intercoastal area south of Ocean City MD. There is a lighthouse on Tawas Point which from most places can't be seen well. The boat launch at Gateway Park located at the south end of Tawas City Because the water was so calm I decided to paddle first and run later. TenaCity to WindyCity Runyak  August 20, 2017 TenaCity 2 WindyCity DAY 5 CLINK ON ALL PHOTOS TO ENLARGE    It was a 11 mile paddle and run today. The plan for runyakers was to just go part way, 8.6 mi., keep mileage down because the Crim 10 race was in 6 days. THEN no runyakers showed up. With the shorter run I even moved the run start time from 8:00 to 8:30. I will not accomodate runyakers from now on. I will make plans for this runyaker only.  Today's paddlers were Linda and Pete Gamage, Kate Ferris and her father Bob, Doug Barnes, Fred Smith, Jill Jenkins, Chris Marty, Dan Rice his business manager Ahmed Dabour, and myself.  Dan Rice and Ahmed run a Route 66 store at the end of the route on the Santa Monica Pier. This was Ahmed's very first time kayaking. Before paddling we left Ahmed with the kayaks while position vehicles at the takeout point. When we returned Ahmed was all wet.
